I am an American girl and now studying in a local high school of my hometown. In my life, I have been a very docile girl. Seldom did I go against my parents' will. I never have done any mischievous things like other adolescent girls. However, several days ago, I had a quarrel with my parents over a shoulder bag.
Nowadays, shoulder bag is quite popular with every girl. When you walk on the campus, you could observe various kinds of fashion bags on the shoulder of young girls. Before, we had got used to take a normal school bag in which there were our books to school. But now, things have changed. Besides the old school bag, many girls would also buy another shoulder bag which basically acts as a decoration.
Originally I didn't intend to have one. But sometimes later, whenever I was in the middle of class, my mind was actually flying to the outside world. I could see girls shouldering fashion bags walking past my classroom windows all the time. Then I came to realize that I needed one shoulder bag too. I thought as a young and beautiful girl, I deserved the right of being fashionable.
Back in my house, I told my parents what I thought. Surprisingly, they blamed me. According to them, the thing I should focus on was to study hard in order to get accepted by an Ivey university. Going after fashion could only spoil my bright future. On that day, for the very first time in my life, I said back. I told them that they had been partial to my younger brother, because they never said anything when he was hanging around in bars all the night. I considered that they were unequal to me for the reason that they had been rather strict to me. Besides, to own a shoulder bag would not distract my attention from my study.
Later, after all of us were back in a calm mood, I spent about an hour trying to persuade my parents to accept my way of thinking and I promised I would go on studying hard. Fortunately, in the end, I successfully made it. They agreed to buy me a shoulder bag.
What should I say? In my opinion, everyone deserves the right of being fashionable. Going after fashion doesn't mean you give up something else at all.
